Everything’s Bigger in Texas

They always say don’t mess with Texas, but we couldn’t help but mess around a little bit when we visited the Lone Star State. We headed to Austin to shoot photos of our fall collection against Austin’s incredibly cool skyline, lakes, and bridges. In recent years, Austin, Texas, has earned a reputation for not only being a great place to get good barbecue, but also a great place to enjoy trendy nightlife and some pretty epic scenic views, too.

When we go somewhere, we try to fully immerse ourselves in the city—to be in the heart of it all, right where the action is. So, when we booked our trip to Austin, we decided to stay at the Line Hotel in the downtown area, giving us easy access to all the city has to offer. Needless to say, we ate at about a dozen barbecue joints and luckily managed to avoid getting any sauce on any of our men’s graphic t-shirts from the new collection. We will, however, be having residual heartburn for the foreseeable future… Worth it.

The first thing you should know about us, is that when we’re in a new city, we like to take it all in by driving around in an old classic car—preferably with the top down. While in Austin, we rented a 1966 silver Mustang convertible, giving us exactly the views and experience we were looking for as we explored. We made a pitstop and shot at the infamous 360 Overlook with all of its amazing views of Lake Travis and the Pennybacker Bridge. We decided it was a great place to capture our new men’s outerwear and The Daily, our best-selling casual shoe for men.

Austin is a city filled with great people—even better than their food, which is saying a lot. Our friends at the South Congress Hotel, the Line hotel, and the Carpenter Hotels all hooked it up for us when we were shooting at their amazing locations. Each hotel brought something unique to the photos with tons of cool textures and modern, rustic vibes. They provided epic places for us to get shots of men’s polos, including the Perfect Polo, and our soft men’s flannels.

Before we left Austin, we made a trip down to the Lady Bird Boardwalk, taking in awesome cityscape views before shooting on South Congress Avenue and Rainey Street, the iconic strip in Austin. All in all, the trip was a roaring success, delivering Texas charm and swagger in spades.
